Revisiting the forbidden city
The exposition Forbidden City at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts will offer visitors a unique journey through a palace once forbidden to the general public, and provide a glimpse into this hidden world through rich and diverse objects from the Ming (1368–1644) and Qing (1644–1911) dynasties. The Leapfrog Creatr will once again rise to the challenge to print all 980 buildings of the Forbidden City scale model.

Leapfrog 3D Printers announces a brand new concept ‘Designers for Leapfrog’ where high end designer pieces can be bought digitally and printed on the Creatr. This project kicks off with a collaboration with non-other than Mr. Karim Rashid. This world renowned designer launches his first 3D product line in collaboration with Leapfrog 3D Printers. Printing the Forbidden City
In collaboration with Dutch museum De Nieuwe Kerk and the Chinese Nanjing Museum, LeapfrogTM 3D printers is printing the entire Forbidden City for the Ming exhibition at De Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. From October 5th 2013 until 2 February 2014, two printers will be working day and night to print all 980 buildings including temples, halls, houses, gates, towers, bridges and walls. Visitors can watch the 3D printers live at work and see the buildings being added to the floor plan daily. Read more on our special project page
3D printed car in Shell's Eco-Marathon
Hogeschool Zuyd (University of applied sciences) is participating in Shell's Eco-Marathon with a car that is built using 3D printers! Team Euregiorunners is very proud of their project, since they are the first team in Europe using this new technique. Not only have they implemented a new production technique, this also resulted in a significant reduction of 75% in production costs. Read more on our special project page
