Leapfrog ABS filament has the right properties making strong, high impact and durable prints. Printing ABS tends to be more difficult to print than PLA without a heated chamber, which often will lead to warping when printing bigger parts.
Parts printed in ABS will look the same as PLA parts with the right settings, but they will be able to handle more forces and more heat. ABS is not biodegradable, which also makes it very resistant to weather influences.ABS is widely used in products and toys, like car bumpers, household appliances, and Lego! It can be finished with an acetone vapor, which will make your parts look polished and smooth.
Leapfrog Engineering PLA
Leapfrog Engineering PLA filament is a perfected and highly resistant version of the normal PLA filament. A 3D print of Engineering PLA can surpass it's ABS 3D printed counterpart. This unique property offers durability and strength while the settings needed to print it are the same as PLA.
PET-G combines some characteristics of PLA and ABS. PET-G is fairly stiff, strong and impact resistant like ABS, but does not have warp problems and have a superior bed adhesion and layer bonding. The filament is also quite lightweight and is resistant to temperatures up to 77 C°.
PET-G is also very suitable for recyclement and has a high resistance to UV-light
PET is the most common thermoplast used worldwide. The most known application is packaging, PET is used to make all kinds of packaging, like plastic bottles for example. Plastic bottles are see through, the PET filament is semi see through when printed under the right circumstances.
Leapfrog PLA is a biodegradable thermoplastic made from renewable resources such as corn starch. It is widely used and has the second highest consumption volume of any bioplastic in the world. PLA is food safe and non toxic, therefore it is used for a lot of (food)packaging purposes.
PLA can be used to print high detailed parts in a short amount of time with relative ease. The printed parts will be reasonably strong, but also quite brittle. In heated environments, think about a car in the summer, PLA can deform. This means that PLA is not advised to be used in parts that needs to withstand a lot of stress of extreme environments.
We recommend PLA for (scale) models, Prototypes, test prints.
To keep your filament in optimal conditions, always store it in a bag and in a dark and cool environment. Heat and moisture have a negative effect on your filament so it is advised to avoid those factors.
The main benefit of Flex filament is, as the name implies, the creation of flexible prints with elastic properties.
When printing Flex, the amount of infill can control the stiffness of your print. Flex printed with 100% infill will be quite rigid, whereas a 0% infill would create a rubber tube, or even balloon like print.
Flex can be used for rubber wheels, mechanical grips or tough durable parts with superb shock absorption with 100% infill.
Nylon is a very strong man made polymer used in different forms. This is a great material to print parts with the need to withstand a lot of stress or outside effects. Nylon can also be used to print sliding or turning parts as its self lubricating.
The printing and chemical properties are better than ABS, although the bonding to the print bed is weaker which means that prints are prone to warping.
Nylon is used as a fiber in clothing, in films for food packaging and in shapes for injection molded parts. Injection molded parts made out of Nylon are very strong, stronger than its ABS counterparts.
Leapfrog HIPS is a soluble support which can be dissolved with D'Limonene. This material is excellent for printing with ABS since it has similar melting properties. With this filament, ABS objects with a lot of overhang and complexiticity can be printed without having to break away the support.
Leapfrog Hybrid is very suitable for printing and will allow you to print faster with the same results compared to PLA. Its properties are between PLA and ABS, making it more durable than PLA, but without the downside of possible warping. It is non-toxic and meets FDA regulations for food contact, and has excellent chemical resistance. The end-product has a high clarity with a high-gloss.
Scaffold Soluble Support Filament by spoolWorks
Scaffold Soluble Support Filament is great for printing complex parts. Support overhang structures with this filament and dissolve in plain water afterward. This material is thermally stable so extrusion flows easily. It also is less sensitive to moisture in the air compared to regular PVA, this means that Scaffold can be stored for a longer period of time with less precautions.
Polypropylene Filament by Verbatim
Polypropylene Filament by Verbatim is a polypropylene filament and that is designed to offer high levels of heat and chemical resistance yet remain pliable post-processing. Polypropylene is commonly used for food packaging, medical applications, and IT equipment.
Leapfrog Carbon is a compound filament of Carbon (20%) and PET-G. The result makes it lighter, twice as stiff and increases the resistance to heat and impact. It is easy and stable to print with almost no warping and has a matt surface finish. Because of the Carbon fibers in this filament, nozzles tend to wear faster.
