David Graas - 3D printing Stalaclights
The “Stalaclights” is a David Graas design project that consist in multiple designs of 3D printed LED bulb shades that illustrate skyscrapers from different American cities like New York or Chicago in an Art Deco manner. The analogy of the series name – Stalaclights / stalactites – wants to emphasize in a different manner the constant city growth and increase of building height.
David Graas is a well-known product designer that studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. With a focus on ECO design and ECO graphics David also founded in 2013 a design studio dedicated to 3d printed products that are “smart, minimal and outspoken”, transforming his ideas into great designs and final products available to everybody.
His design studio – Layers – was founded when realizing the true potential of 3d printing and the fact that it will rapidly spread, evolve and change the world. The possibility of creating customized designs and the continuously developing variety of printing materials represent the growth engine of the whole 3D printing industry. You can buy the "Stalaclights" and other projects by David Graas online on the Layers website.
