Leapfrog 3D printer available in South Africa

With a great partner by our side we added another country to our distribution list. South Africa is the new market where Leapfrog will be present with the help of Ricoh. Together we will be able to offer not only our products but also consumable materials, maintenance and support for the product.

Ricoh SA is making the Leapfrog Creatr HS 3D printer available in South Africa. It it also providing full consumable materials, maintenance and support locally for the product. The company expects initial uptake in South Africa to be strong in education and architecture with significant interest from smaller engineering firms. “Students and professionals who need to prototype products and components can make immediate commercial use of the 3D printer. It has one of the largest bay volumes on the market at 14 liters, allowing structures 30 cm high. In addition, it has the fastest speed available in the market at 400 mm per second; it also has the ability to simultaneously produce in two colors.” says Jacques van Wyk, COO of Ricoh SA.

Leapfrog’s Creatr HS is an award-winning device and this local support from Ricoh extends an international agreement Ricoh has with Leapfrog. Customers will, consequently, be able to add 3D printers to existing Ricoh imaging print service contracts.

The R50 000 is directly offered from Ricoh SA or any of its nationwide Authorized Distributors. It includes all equipment and consumables necessary to begin printing. From the printer itself to four filaments of consumable material, flash drives, and the software to create and convert models, which are also downloadable from the Web. 

The move into 3D printing is a natural evolution for Ricoh. It already has an established 3D print head development and manufacturing operation. Additionally, it is acting as an OEM for a number of 3D printer manufacturers. It also has a number of technologies in prototyping and molding in addition to its accumulated experience utilising 3D printers for its own product design processes over the past 20 years.
